Do You Need A Safe Sync For Your Digital Camera ??

Here's The Best Way To Find Out -

Note: If you do not know how to do the following, or do not have the proper equipment, contact someone who does. We assume no responsibility for this information or it's use.

Remember - the first step is to contact your flash unit's manufacturer and your camera's manufacturer for their recommendations !

1. Use a voltmeter. Almost any meter will do.

2. Set it to check DC voltage at 0 to 20 volts voltage range, or a range close to that, and use the probes to measure the voltage of a new 9 volt radio battery. It should read a little over 9 volts.

3. Next set it to read AC voltage at the 200 voltage range and measure household (USA) voltage in a wall plug. It should read about 110 -125 volts.

4.Numbers 2 and 3 above will tell you if the meter is reading correctly.

5. Next, power up the flash units you want to use with your digital camera.

6. Set the volt meter to DC at a setting of at least over 400 volts. Measure the voltage at the flash sync terminals. If you cannot read it, go higher or lower in range settings on the volt meter till you get a reading.

7. Repeat number 6 with the meter set on the AC setting.

8. Usually you will be reading a DC setting voltage.

9. Note the highest voltage readings you read, and if DC or AC.

10. If the reading is 10 volts DC or less, you do not need a safe sync.

11. If the reading is AC voltage above 10 volts - contact the camera and camera manufacturer's for their recommendations.

12. We assume no liability for the above information !!
